AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She is captain and striker for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the most prestigious division of women's soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team with Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from the year 2018 to 2020. [8][9] Shortly after graduating earlier from the University of California, Berkeley and playing for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her professional debut at the time and played a major role in the team's winning the league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time and the youngest member of the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. She scored the winning goal in the semi-final match against Canada in the semi-final match during the 2012 London Olympics. She was the second player in the United States to score 21 assists and 20 goals for 2012, making her the youngest and sixth-highest scoring player in the United States to score 20 goals in one year. She was subsequently awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan also helped the United States win their titles at the 2015 as well as the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, which included her on the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
