The initial inspiration came from shadows reflected on grass. After a few weeks she came up with a technique which did not create the object she chose on the canvas as a flat image. When the objects are alive or a thing that can be eaten, like fruit and even people and other objects, they are transformed into paintings of themselves. Alexa's style of painting is very ephemeral. Only the photos of her work remain. Trompe-l'oeil art is created by combining the two techniques of photographing and painting. The result is a flattened, two dimensional image. Meade occasionally integrates painted models within the surrounding space. They are able to be part of the world the artist has constructed. This eliminates the distinctions between photography, painting, and installation.
